The field proven PowerStation™ Power Distribution Unit (PDU) line is ideally suited for industrial and telecommunications applications requiring a rugged rack, vehicular or field deployable, high reliability, compact size and light weight design. The heavy-duty chassis occupies only 2U (3.5”) of rack space while controlling up to 2400 VA of power via six double pole controls. The rounded metal corners and rugged handles aid in safe handling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration. All controls and protective devices are brought to the front panel with critical switches or breakers guarded. Further, all front panel devices are recessed to prevent damage or accidental operation. The control panel contains individual control breakers, alarm silence switch and alarm LEDs.

The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit's status. An alarm will flash its respective LED until acknowledged. Once the alarm reset is pressed, the LED will remain on steady until the alarm is cleared. The intelligent PDU allows control of the individual output circuits incorporating thermal and interlock interfaces for additional control and safety, plus battleshort override. Each load can have an external interlock to turn off power to equipment when it is not fully engaged in the rack or becomes overheated. The rack may be equipped with both a thermal warning and a thermal shutdown sensor that the PDU uses to alarm and shut down all the loads to avoid damage or thermal runaway. A battleshort signal will override both the thermal and interlock signals. An external Fan Fail or auxiliary alarm signal can also brought in to annunciate. The high intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments, yet is easily adjustable to suit quieter conditions. The double pole input breaker provides overload and short circuit protection for the connected UPS input isolation transformer and rack fans. The PDU circuit breaker on/off operation is also interlocked to control the UPS on/off function as well. Power from the UPS is brought back to the PDU to be distributed to the loads. Each load is controlled by a double pole solidstate relay avoiding accidental operation due to shock or vibration. The elapsed time hour meter tracks the rack equipment operation for maintenance.

The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input power, output power, alarm and control signals. Appropriate jumper plugs are available for options not used in a particular rack system.

Overall, the PowerStation product line is uniquely qualified for critical shipboard, vehicle, airborne or land based systems combining advanced modular design features with highly reliable construction.
